I used to have a little girl -- Addie -- in day care at my house. She and my Little Man became fascinated with our nativity set after I brought it out for the holidays. They played with it most of the day, ignoring the boatload of toys in the house. Addie's mom and dad were puzzled when she came home saying she wanted "a Jesus playset." :-D It still makes me laugh when I think about it.

Beautiful pictures. I agree with Alicia -- they're very inspiring.

Susan,

I am so inspired by the way you homeschool! I jumped on the textbook bandwagon this semester because it seemed easier - duh!

We are going to use the lesson plans for Tio Fernando. We have been reading Fr. Phillip Tells a Ghost Story on Oct. 31st for years. The girls will enjoy the change.

Blessings,
Debbie

That's what I love about homeschooling -- we can reinvent ourselves as many times as we need to. I like the way you sat down and brainstormed with each child. We have done this too.

It is hard to let go and let the children learn "on their own". I am a schoolteacher by training and boy is this tough! This year I decided to let my children do their studies independently of each other. In the past we did everything together except phonics, spelling, math and penmanship. I read history, literature, science, and geography etc to them. This summer we worked on each of us doing our own thing and although I feel like I'm juggling many different things the girls are enjoying their studies much more.

Blessings!
